What Are K-Groups

A few weeks ago, Todd and Scott introduced a plan for a new meeting format called K-Groups. (To hear what they had to say, watch the sermon here.) These K-Groups will be weekly, in-home small groups and will serve as the replacement for Sunday and Wednesday night services for the next three months. The first semester will run from March to May.

All groups have a date and time each week to meet and a different study topic. For example, Ken and Brenda Sauls will meet Sunday Evenings at 5:30 pm in their home and study, “Letters From Heaven.” Currently, we will offer eight of these home groups with the hope that everyone can find a time that fits their schedule and a study that piques their interest. Included in this letter is a list and short description of each K-Group offered during this first semester. Please read about each group and sign up for the one that best suits your interests and schedule.

There are many reasons for trying something fresh and different. First, these K-Groups will expand what we have to offer to people of all ages. Second, over the last two years, many of us have missed deep personal connections and have desired in-home studies like these. K-Groups will allow the people of Kingsway to get to know each other at a more personal level. And finally, we believe the world is becoming a very uncertain place for Christians. By establishing these in-home meetings, we know we can continue on in spite of whatever may happen at the federal, state, or local level in the future. No matter what, Kingsway can carry on in our homes.

We would love for everyone to participate in K-Groups and believe this is an important direction for Kingsway. These weekly groups are informal and casual. You can ask questions, discuss things you are curious about, and grow together into the life God has designed for you. We challenge you to give it a try. The first semester is a short commitment and we want you involved. We believe everyone at Kingsway will enjoy K-Groups and look forward to the next semester of groups.

Take a look at the included list to find the leader, host home, meeting time, and topic of study of each group, and make the choice that works best for you. There is a sign-up sheet online as well in the vestibule at church. Feel free to contact the leader of the group(s) you are interested in to have your questions answered or to express interest. Sign-ups will be through the end of February.

We can’t wait to see you at K-Groups!

An Overview OF EACH GROUP

Leader: Ken Sauls
Date and Time: Sundays at 5:30
Location: The Sauls Home
Study Topic: Letters From Heaven

This group is open to all ages and will be working through the book “Letters From Heaven.” Have you ever wondered where heaven is? What you’ll be like in heaven? What you’ll do? Letters from Heaven is the fictional correspondence between someone in heaven and someone on earth and is a glimpse into what life in heaven might be like. If you’re struggling with questions about heaven, dealing with the loss of a loved one, or looking for encouragement for living on earth, Letters from Heaven will lift your spirit and increase your desire to spend eternity with God.

Leader: Todd Freeman
Date and Time: Mondays at 6:30
Location: The Furth’s Home
Study Topic: Digging Deeper

This is the first time and location for the Digging Deeper study. This group is open to all ages and will be taught by Pastor Todd. Each week, this group will dig deeper into the Truths from the Sunday morning message and discuss how God wants us to go deeper in our relationship with Jesus and with one another.

Leader: Todd Freeman
Date and Time: Wednesdays at 6:00
Location: The Hayter’s Home
Study Topic: Digging Deeper

This is the second time and location for the Digging Deeper study. This group is open to all ages and will be taught by Pastor Todd. Each week, this group will dig deeper into the Truths from the Sunday morning message and discuss how God wants us to go deeper in our relationship with Jesus and with one another.

Leader: George and Tammy Gillen
Date and Time: Saturdays at 6:30
Location: The Gillen’s Home
Study Topic: Radical Reconciliation: The Journey of Forgiveness

This group is open to all ages and will study the topic of forgiveness. We all have difficult relationships. Sometimes we’re the offender, sometimes we’re the person offended, and sometimes…we have no clue what the problem is. In Radical Relationships, we’ll go beyond improving or managing our difficult and strained relationships as we pursue their healing. This study will teach us to progressively move toward forgiveness and uncomfortable territory through the supernatural power of Jesus Christ.

Leader: Tim Weiss
Date and Time: Tuesdays at 6:30
Location: The Weiss’s Home
Study Topic: 1st John

This group is open to all ages and will be studying the book of 1st John. In 1st John, the author wants his readers to experience true fellowship with God and with God’s people. But he knew that this would not happen until Christians could set aside their own selfish desires in favor of the pursuits God has for them. In this group, we will read God’s word and discuss how to apply it to our individual lives.

Leader: Scott & Gayle Ranck
Date and Time: Wednesdays at 6:30
Location: The Ranck’s Home
Study Topic: Life Change

This group is open to all ages and will be discussing life-change. We will consider the issues involved in enhancing or hindering life change and will study the book of James as we discuss what the bible has to say about the topic.

Age Group: Young Adults
Leader: Thomas & Rachel Kirk
Date and Time: Wednesdays at 6:30
Location: The Kirk’s Home
Study Topic: How Personality Affects Your Relationships

This group is for young adults and will be studying the book “The Path Between Us” as they explore how our personalities affect our relationships. Most of us have no idea how others see or process their experiences. And that can make relationships hard, whether with intimate partners, with friends, or in our professional lives. Understanding the motivations and dynamics of these different personality types can be the key that unlocks sometimes mystifying behavior in others―and in ourselves.
